Made with love by Granny
Inspiration for paintings can come from so many different places. This year I took a trip to northwestern North Carolina and was intrigued by huge painted quilt patterns placed on the sides of barns, homes and businesses in a variety of locations. With a couple inquiries I quickly learned about the Western North Carolina Quilt Trail.
My wheels started spinning after seeing the block quilt patterns on these trails. I reflected upon the many quilts my Granny had made for the family. She had put so much time and love into each quilt. Just as the families and business are paying homage to America's quilt makers, I have been inspired to give homage to Granny. Pictured below are the quilts Granny made for our family and the paintings I am creating inspired by her love.
You can visit http://www.quilttrailswnc.org/_ to learn more about the 7 Western North Carolina driving trails and the displayed quilt blocks.
This page is a work in progress as I am continuing work to create the paintings.
