Overflow

Fluid painting is an intuitive style of working with paint. The colors are literally poured on canvas and manipulated with painting tools and tilting the canvas.  Each time I create a painting, I have the canvas sitting over either a plastic tray or plastic tarp to catch any paint that runs off the edge of the canvas.  Over time I found myself staring at this leftover paint....what I came to think of as Overflow paint.  These blendings of color kept catching my eye and after a wile I decided to capture them in digital photographs. Last week, I was studying techniques of other artists and found several YouTube video gems by artist Debbie Arnold. She has provided a name for my "Overflow" paint; she calls them skins.  And she showed the neatest technique for turning these skins into intriguing abstract paintings.  Gosh...I wish I hadn't thrown these Overflow Skins away. (smile, wink) Guess I'll have to keep painting and creating more Overflow Skins.
